3010 rear axle seal

Our 3010 is leaking onto the left rear wheel (inside) when running. After reading archived posts, I got the wheel off. Then went to JD site & viewed scematics for needed parts. However, do I just plunge in and start prying/ripping the dust seal apart or is there some procedure to follow? I can"t C any way to take old seal apart w/out tearing it up but I am no mechanic. Any help would sure be appreciated.

The seal is inside--you have to remove the axle housing and remove the carrier and gears pull the axle and replace the seal then reset the end play

If it is leaking oil, the seal by the INBOARD bearing (Key #12) is bad and /or the axle bearings are loose/worn/shot.

Repairing it will require the whole axle/planetary assembly to be removed from the maincase and taken apart so the bearings can be examined and (at the least) the inboard seal can be replaced and the preload on the bearings set up correctly.

Allright!! Thank you'll very much for replying. I will start tomorrow AM taking the back bolts off and see if I can move forwards. The graphic from Bob was much better than the one I was able to get from the JD site. It helps me to see what Im in for! I will keep posting cause Im sure something will go wrong. Once again, I really appreciate the help. This forum is awesome.
