Has anyone happened to pick up the fake virus Think Point. Wife got it Sunday, and now I have to try to get rid of it. Any Suggestions will be appreciated. John
 
Oh yeah. After putzing with it for two days, bought Spyware Doctor. It worked. There are many other ways on the net but I was not having any luck, but I'm no guru with the smoke-boxes.
 
Download MBAM it is free and totally awesome at finding Malware, Trojans etc. After you have downloaded, do a full scan. It is slow but thorough. Superantispyare is also very good.
By the way, if your PC is totally corrupted and it won't let you download anything from the internet you may have to download it onto a friend's PC's memory stick or CD then download it from that.

Malwarebytes will do it like like Roy said.
You should then run a Antivirus program and do a full scan with that after you scan with Malwarebytes If you do not have an Antivirus program AVAST free edition works well. You will also see a shortcut on your desktop called Think Point delete it.

If Malwarebytes will not run after you install it post back here. There is a simple work around.
 
Malwarebytes can be installed and will run in Windows safe mode. Be sure to start the computer in the safe mode with networking.
