A friend recently bought a 4 yr old Pete and I flew out and picked it up for him. One thing I noticed is the lack of an air intake restriction indicator on it. I advised him to get one put on, and I was thinking how easy it would be to install. But then I thought about drilling and tapping the hole in the intake tube. How do you do it without getting metal particles inside? Has anyone ever installed one where there was no hole for it?

Something I've done in similar situations (trying not to contaminate where you're drilling to) and if you liberally coat the end of you drill/tap with grease all of the swarf will stick to it. You'll have to stop and clean it and regrease often but in a pinch. If it were me I'd pull the air intake piping off and clean it properly, it shouldn't be too hard. Sam

Put as big of a magnet as you can in the intake. You can also pull the plugs on each cylinder and stick a shop vac hose on.

In my opinion a waste of time. A air cleaner stays clean for ever in a semi. Air cleaner must have to be plugged tight for one of them to trip. Never had one trip on a piece of equipment I have had. Mark
