Hi Guys,

Neighbor has had this thing lying out in his tree row since forever.

Asked him if I got it running, could I use it this winter in case the weather got real bad and I couldn't get the feed wagons filled.

Darned thing works pretty slick; sure beats using the loader bucket, the front tire or that blasted pitchfork. :>)

Do you feed on the open range? If I tried that, 90% of the feed would be trampled into the mud and snow if I don't use a bale feeder. That spinner looks like the cats meow for spreding a few bales for bedding though.

I have B&W spinnner for winter feeding round bales and as long as the bales are put up right( fairly tight) you can unroll the hay in a nice windrow for feeding or put it in piles.

I had someone put bales up a few years ago that were loose on the outside and tighter than all get out on the inside. I fee in several different pastures and I spent the winter forking hay out of the lanes over the fence or getting off the tractor to peel the hay off the roll. It defeats the purpose of the spinner. Never again will I have that outfit custom bale for me. Since you put up your own bales you have control over that.

can you get Audry to walk behind with a pitchfork? Seemed to me like they needed an operator on the ground to help the hay unroll. I'm still pushing bales with the front tire. Seems to work the best for me.

I made one in 1988 and it's still in use every winter. I made another for the front of the loader and use it to feed a couple of bulls or a few heifers that I might have separated from the herd. I just hang that one over the fence and drop off what they need each day. It cuts way down on waste. When you use that one spread the hay roll as far as you can make it last. That way they won't be standing on the hay and eat it all.

After folks saw the one I made everyone I know in this area unrolls hay now. To expensive to grow hay to have cows waste it.
