Right tire size for a 67 Ford 2000

I just bought a 1965 Ford 2000, gas 3 cyl. A read of the serial numbers on the shroud showed that it was a 1967.
Mechanically, it is in very good condition. I tuned it and a new oil change and it ran like a champion. The only trouble is that one of the rear tires shredded soon after using it to brushog a hillside. The rear tire size on both rears was 13.6x28 (standard is 11.2x28). Every thing I've looked up, doesn't show this size tire/wheel combination as an option on Ford 2000 (It is on the Ford 3000, though).
I noticed a good bargain on some 14.9x28 6ply from Tiretown ($210 vs $235 on the 13.9x28 (4-6ply). I understand that the 14.9x28 are a little over an inch wider, but would the tire's height be much higher? The 28in wheels also have cast iron weights on the inside of the wheels. I have serious hills to climb on my land when brush hogging and need all of the traction I can get. I sure wouldn't like to go back to the original standard size.

Unless you ordered it different standard size on that tractor was 12.4X28.
Part of the equation if I were in your shoes would be what tranny does the tractor have.
With the 8 spd I would consider oversized tires.
The 4 spd with it's fast 1st gear I would not go larger than OEM.

I agree with UD.

The standard OEM tire size for your 2000 is 12.4x28.

A 14.9x28 tire is oversized for a 3000 and two sizes oversized for your 2000. Ground speed will be increased significantly and fender clearance may be an issue.

Use 12.4s.

Do you mow now in first gear or second gear. Those sizes would make the speed in first gear equal to second with the factory size so if now you are mowing in second gear then you could drop down to first gear but if you are already in first gear you cannot drop down a gear.

If you are gonna use the original rims you need to match the tires to the rims,,, if original rims the 13.9 are as big as I would go with... I am not fond of larger tires but I don't have the need for them and understand were others would need them...

The next question would B,,, whats the condition of your old rims,,, new rims and tires may be the best option...
