I have a stuck oil drain plug on an IH utility tractor (424). When I put muscle on the 3/4 inch socket to loosen, the entire oil pan flex"s doesn"t want to come out....really rather not drop oil pan.

Any one have any ideas?

Thanks

Impact wrench set on a modest level. and rattle it for a while. Heating it to 400 degrees (not red) while under the oil will not cause an explosion. lett it cool and try again. Jim

I'll second the impact gun, or if you don't have one try whacking the plug inwards with a larger hammer a couple of times immediately prior to putting your wrench on it. Sam

I'd try the hammer before the impact gun. If you try the impact, just give it a short burst or two, don't whale away on it, you may break away the spot welded insert that the plug screws into, make sure your socket is a tight fit and on straight or you will be in more trouble.

if unit is new to you, prior owner might have JB welded the plug in after stripping the threads

bit of warmth will soften the JB but then you have to deal with the ruined threads

they sell oil suckers that get the old oil out thru dipstick, might consider trying that right now
