Corn damage report from the black birds

I posted this summer about the black birds eating my corn. Did some corn picking this weekend and I'd say the birds averaged about 50%-60% of every cob. The thing I dont like is that when the birds were eating the corn this summer it leaves the husk open and now theres some mold on the cobs in spots from the rain getting down into the cob, the birds leave the husk like a funnel and it catchs the rain.
I thinkin the mold wont hurt the cows or deer being they got multi stomachs but what about my chickens? I know the horses, donkeys and goats I got CAN'T eat corn with mold. Any ideas what type of mold it would be??
This was my 1st corn crop I ever grew and kinda down and out with all the damage and wondering weather or not I want to loose the same next year. I did a little research on them black birds and the one state dept. of ag said that the birds live in and need areas with cat-tails. I live about 3 miles as the crow flies from a HUGE marsh. I've been checkin fields that are about 5 miles away and no damage but there are about 8 miles from the marsh. A guy rented my field when I was away at college about 10 years ago and he had the same amount if not more damage and he had more acres planted than I did. He filed for crop damage with dept of ag and never grew corn there after that.
I just glad that I'm not depending on crops for a income, just to feed some critters. Just dont know about next year.
One last qustion how could I tell how many bushels per acre I got. I didnt use a gravity wagon behind the picker, I used a dump-bed that goes in the back of a pick-up truck, and put that on my hay wagon.
Thanks

personally i wouldnt feed moldy corn to anything but theres a solution to your problem for next year...nut and fruit growers use propane cannons to scare crows and blckbirds off their crops...i think usual setting is once every 15 minutes.....p!sses the neighbors off if you got any close by but it only fires in the daytime if you set it right.

Between blackbirds, turkeys, deer, coons, they sure did a number on my oats this summer too. Don"t remember the blackbirds flocking up so early in the year before.

Had the same problem when I started farming in "72. 7 acres corn next to 30 acres of cattail swamp. There are corn hybrids with tighter husks...need to ask your salesman about that. Hasn"t been an issue since. Cannons were often used on sunflower fields, but over time, the birds may ignore them.
