Tires...........

The inevitable happened, and one of the rear tires on my D19 split. They're 16.9x38, and scarce. I've been holding my breath for several years while trying to locate a better pair, but there just don't seem to be any out there.

I've tried our local Coops, Nebraska Tire, and some other independent dealers to no avail. An alternate would be 15.5x38. Actually, that's what the book shows, but there don't seem to be any of those around, either. I'm not going to spend the money for new tires on that old crate.

Does anyone have any ideas in the eastern Nebraska, western Iowa, or northern Kansas area?

Thanks in advance.

Last I checked down here where I am I can find tires in the 15.5 and up easy but try to find a 12.4 or 13.6X38 and all you get is ones the hold up as a flower bed and that is it

Have you tried pricing a new Galaxy Tire? AgMaster I think is the model. They're the same lug design as the Firestone Field and Road at about half the price.
I'd look into that befoer screwing with rotten used tires.

we have a set mounted on IH duals (our 1066 was converted to 16.9x38)
sold the tractor and hubs a couple years ago - the guy said he would but never came back for the wheels/tires

southeastern tip of South Dakota
write back if you are interested.......

personally though I wouldn"t think it would be that hard to get new ones in that size

Nobody replaces rear tractor tires until they either wear out, or rot out. That's why you won't find any decent USED tires. If the D-19 is not worth 2 new tires, then you may as well just sell it for scrap and be done.

Goose, for what it is worth; try surfing the Minnesota Craig's listings... 15.5-38, I saw a few of those listed recently....

The easiest way to quickly scan the areas, such as St. Cloud, is to bring them up on the screen, look on the center left side of the screen where it says: "for sale, wanted" and type in the words tractor tire ... this works the best because people often place their ads in different categories than the "farm and garden".. the results from all categories which pertain to tractor tire will appear..

saves allot of time..... AAAAndd,, there is a D19 for sale also, if someone is looking for one.

I just put a set of 16.9 x 38 Contental tire on my 4010. It had 15.5 x 38 and the drawdar was too low. They cost $1100 for the pair of bias. I changed them myself and that saved another $250. These tires are going sky high.
I feel for you. I looked for a used set for two years before giving up.
