Well been fighting this water heater problem now for over a month. Finally have the solution to the problem. Called the company again after replacing every thing bt the tank part. Well it is still under warranty so guess what I get to pull it out today and take it back to Lowes for a brand new one. Found after all this time it was leaking but I didn't notice that till just a couple days ago. Lessen learned is when one starts to mess up call the company and tell them it leaks and they will tell you take it back for warranty replacement. Oh that was told to me by one of there company tecks

Well it's about time someone did something!!! Been thinking, hope "Old" gets that hot water heater fixed, as I really don't like cold showers..LOL

I have a Sear's Survivor gas fired water heater that will soon be 19 years old. It has a fiberglass tank and it has electronic ignition.

I complained to Sears about all the problems I was having and they gave a new water heater and I 've never installed it. I got another repairman and so far it had has worked fine. It pays to keep your receipts. My neighbor had his water heater replaced by Home Depot under warranty. I think he had to pay a plumber to install it. You shouldn't have any more water heater problems now. Hal

I just had mine done last week, pop off valve would not stay closed after running furnace. replaced it with 3 new ones before calling service man. (This company is less than 20 min away If ya stop for coffee)
I paid less than $10.00 for each for those .

He found the expansion tank had ruptured , the limit switch was bad and probably was the cause that busted bladder.

He said limit switch would normally cost $189.00 for a new one, but he just happened to have a used one that could be externally mounted, by passing original one clamping it on the outlet heat pipe. and it would only be $40.00 for it.

Shorten story--He fixed it gave me a general idea what it was going to cost.
First trip he need to go 12 mile to get expansion tank and get something to eat, took 4 hours from the time he arrived at my house the first time, till he was done for the day.

Next day he spent exactly 1 hour putting on limit control and bleeding system. He said he didn't make out the bills or handle money but gave us an estimate of the cost. $325.00--- Well yesterday we got bill from company.( first numbers quoted by service man)-- second rounded off to closest dollar
quote Actual
Expansion tank 2.5 gal $56.00 $69.00
limit switch $40.00 $75.00
pop off valve $12.00 $18.00
Labor actual time here I figured total of 3.5
They charge $65.00 an hour comes to $227.50
comes to a total of $389.50 + Tax
I was a little up set when I saw $431.22
