NEVER USED A LP/BUTANE TRACTOR.. THERE IS ONE FOR SALE CLOSE BY.. TALKED TO OWNER ON PHONE.. HE SAYS GOOD COND.. STARTS GOOD, LOOKS GOOD.. TRICYCLE FRONT.. WANTS $2000.00.. BEFORE I GO SEE IT.. CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME OPINION/COMMENTS ABOUT IT.. I THINK LP WOULD BE AN AGRAVATION TO FUEL UP.. THANKS

filling the lp tank is fairly easy BUT i believe nowadays you cant have a nurse tank on a trailer without a ton of permits.
that being the case you'd have to get home before you ran out of fuel...adding a fuel fill to your home propane tank isnt too expensive.
propane is good because it burns cleaner than any fuel i know of...makes for long lasting engines...the engine designed for propane doesnt have the loss of power like in conversions from gasoline.

for that kind of money you need to jump on it running or not...only 417 factory 530LP's were built...they go for top dollar

I ran propane many years in all farm equipment, irrigation motors, ect. We converted everything to butane in the mid 1950's. Combines, grain trucks, tractors and pickup trucks all on propane. We paid 12 cents per gallon back then. Our first "factory propane equiped tractor was 2 70 J.D.'s bought in 1954. propane is a much cleaner fuel and the carburation is much simpler and easier to work on than gasoline. Looking back it is kinda scary but us farmers back then aired all of our tires with propane in the field. When custom combining, we also ran out air impact wrenches on propane.

If it starts, runs and drives BUY IT !!!! That seems really cheap price for a 530. even if it is a 520 still buy it.

Your LP dealer can add aliquid fill hose to your home tank for you. They will also educate you on filling procedures. When we had an LP tractor we made a hose for a 100# cylinder fuel transfer was accomplished by turning the cylinder upside down to get liquid out,

I agree that this LP tractor is a bargain running or not.

hello to all that are interested..i went to see the jd 530 this am.. i was very suprised.. i thought a 530 would be a 2cyl.. it is on propane.. it is a 6 cyl..the tractor did not have any visible no. on the hood, except the 0...the serial no. is T212R125555R, located on the back axle housing next to the PTO.. there was a no. on the block on left side R33170R. no other nos found, [dirt and grease covered] lot the area on tractor.. please help me find the right model..++

knew that was to good to be true...I sold a 58 JD530LP with a cracked block,no radiator ,bad tires & many pieces broken or missing for $7500...didn't have the money or health to restore it....don't know what you got but it's NOT a JD530

There's a casting number R33170 used in 4020's and with the SN 125555 I'll guess it's a 1966 4020 LP

thanks for the reply..i certainly was suprised when i arrived at this fellow"s house.. the tractor was sitting in the yard.. i had talked to him about 2 times prior going to see it..he is an older person says he has had tractor for 3 yrs.. says it is 70 hp. on propane.. decent looking. sounds ok running.. i told him 2 or 3 times i did not believe it was a model 530.. he insisted it was.. no sense arguing i left.. have a good day

thanks for the help an the replies.. you just never know,, the owner of the "jd model 530" kept saying that it was a 530..i did not come right and say it was not a 530, i just said it did not look like one.. he was an older man, i did persue the matter. have a nice day
