farmall h series

I've got a farmall H series tractor I inherited. It dies when I drive it up an incline and I have to restart it over and over. Once I'm on level ground or a decline it runs smooth without a problem. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

The fuel line comes out towards the rear of the tank, so that wouldn't be the problem. I'd check the fuel system for something blocking the flow. Check for sediment in the tank and fuel filter. Maybe the float is not adjusted right? I can't remember which side it's hinged on. But I'd look for something blocking the flow of fuel first.

I dunno,

If will continually restart going up that incline, I really doubt that there's anything wrong with the fuel delivery other than 'maybe' the load screw could come out a bit.

If the old sow has been sittin' fer a number of years, it probably just needs a darned good tune up so it'll handle a load/pull.

I'd guess that it's been years since anyone has looked at the dwell on the thing and is more than likely workin' to beat he!! just to pull it's own weight.

Just my opinion and hope ya get 'er straightened out. They are darned nice tractors when they're right. :>)

Does this happen when the fuel is low?A trick farmers did to prevent tank corrosion from getting into the line was to put a sm. length of line into the top side of the sediment bowl. This ment you needed at least a couple gallons of gas in the tank or it couldnt get fuel. Then the screen and sediment bowl didnt get the crap from the bottom of the tank. May not hurt to take the sediment bowl off and check that and the screen. The screen may plugged just enough to prevent fuel from getting to the carb when under a load.Dont take long to check it out and dont cost anything, this is always a good place to start.Good luck it is flusterating to have a toy you cant play with!!!

you may have a bunch of crap partially plugging the fuel outlet from the tank or the carb float sticking.
I'd check the tank first. I grew up on one. First tractor i ever operated for my dad

Can't you even hang around long enough to help fuel it up? Bein' in such a hurry all the time is hard on your health.
