mf 40 exhaust system

I have a MF 40 industrial tractor which exhausts vertically from the 4 bolt port at the front of the manifold. There is also a 3 bolt triangular port at the opposite end that has a manifold blanking facing downward.
I would like to use this port to exhaust fumes down and under the tractor. Are there any issues in re-directing the exhaust through this port?

Thanks Alex

135's with the horizontal exhaust use the bottom port. Make sure nothing is in the way. Not all manifolds have both exhaust outlets. Why do you want the exhaust under the tractor? Dave

Thanks Dave

I want to exhaust down and back to avoid breathing fumes and also to avoid hitting branches overhanging the perimeter of an acreage I constantly maintain.

I see a clear opening down and back from the rear exhaust port.

The existing port would be problematic going down and back because of the hydraulic lines to the front wheels.

Do you see any problem?

agd,

Problems I remember having under exhaust
were a hot foot asit will heat the foot plate
when you work it hard, terrible stink while
hitching to machinery , and the possibility
of fire when raking hay . Had 2 with lower
exhaust ,8N had to live with that,Case 300
changed that lower ex to stack 50 years ago
and will never go back. Still use that tractor
regularly to pull 7'6" liliston mower ,also
carry 55 gal weed sprayer and use it to do
finish work on yard grading .

My Jubilee had horizontal exhaust and I couldn't stand the smell. Went to vertical and won't go back.

Quite a few Massey's like yours came "factory" with downswept exhaust. The OEM set-up used the 3-bolt plate you're looking at as a point of origin. You will be able to get over the counter OEM replacement parts to assemble the entire system, front to rear. Down side? You'll get "gassed" while hooking up any rear mounted implements if the tractor is running. The exhaust is somewhat vulnerable, but then again, it is also vulnerable as a vertical system. Lastly, the underswept systems CAN be a bit of a fire hazzard in extremely dry weeds, ect...
