Have any of you guys had a partial knee replacment ? The doc says the recovery time is nothing like doing the whole thing like they used to do it . He said I will be good to go in a few weeks . This is a regular joint center and the same guy that replaced my hip so I trust him just wandered if it is as smooth as they let on .

I am having it done the 15th of oct and he said I can feed the cows and slop in the mud by the 1st of nov. , juct seems like a short time . They talk about it like they are treating a cold , nothing to it . It will have to get busy raining if I am to slop in the mud though !!

I am going to have it done next year. I have a very good knee surgeon best in Dallas I found out. Told me I would be back to normal in 3-4 weeks.

Hey, they did my MIL's hip (88 years old) in forty minutes flat. Had her walking the next day. All she needed was the "ball" part of the hip joint.

Don't know about knees but when I had my second shoulder redone I was out of the hospital late morning and back to work that afternoon. When I had double hernia done I was back to work the next morning. Seems everything is faster these days.

i had a total knee done in april.
it took awhile for knee to come around but it finally did. when i got home from hospital in april i was sick for a week from pain meds so wasn't able to exercises. do your exercises they make a big differance.
i had to have knee manipulated in july to get it to move. i had a rough time driving or doing anything before july.

Had a total hip replacement in Feb "09- did my exercises daily for six months. Friend had hip done by different dr, different, simpler procedure (two small incisions, rather than one long one). He was walking in 3 weeks as well as I was in 8. Mine is perfect now. Important thing, hip or knee....is do the exercises, keep it limber.

I have one that will need that sometime down the road, but as long I can get around good I'm waiting. My wife's sister had hip surgery when she was in in late 80's and she get's around good. She will be 93 in Dec and is in better shape than her 65 year old son. She's not as tall now since the surgery. I think she might out live her son since he weighs over 400 pounds and has numerous health issues. Hal

Save yourself some misery and get a total. I had a total 3 yrs ago and was very pleased with the whole thing. My sister-in-law was talked into a partial and within two mos was right back in for a total. Seems there wasn't as much "good" knee left as old Doc thought. Don't ask me how they got Blue Cross to pay twice in one year but thay did. Sounds like he was a little "crooked" TWICE! Get the complete and be done with it. There's just as much involved in the partial as the complete as far as recovery etc. I'm very happy with mine.
