wondering if i can build a log splitter and run the cylinder off my aux hydraulic connectors on my skidsteer? Will it be fast enough and would it tear up my valve body cycling the cylinder back and forth??

Google skid steer solutions, they have several to choose from, or you could build one similar to them. Probably won't hurt your valve body at all

As was said ,they have them out there and cut the wood to lenght at the same time.ONE AWSOME MACHINE.

Should work great on a skid steer. You'd have to check if you can just hook up a log splitter valve to run off your aux. hydraulic couplers. Dave

We do that frequently although we do have a separate splitter valve. Just hook up and tie the loader valve in the engaged position and get to work. This one pumps ~18 gpm which is decent. If your skid steer is kinda pokie then mabey it won't work so well... but DO get a proper splitter valve that you can mount within easy reach of the wedge.

I think most aux.'s on skid steers lock in position in one direction for attachments like augers, mowers and rototillers. Mine has a detent on one side but not the other. It would be a pain having to hold the pedal all the time. Dave

I built a log splitter for my skid steer. 8 by 8 beam I forget the weight of it per ft. but it's heavy. 5 inch by 24 stroke Prince cylinder, made the wedge, actually I made everything except the beam, cylinder and valve. made the plate that the skid steer attaches to also. I run my John deere 250 skid steer at about 1/4 throttle when using the splitter. It moves the wedge fast enough for me.

Some do, some don't. Mine doesn't. I just stick my pocket knife between the lever and the head of the right travel stick as this one is mounted in the right hand grip...
