OT: dump truck canvas/tarp 12-volt question

I have a question for anyone who knows about 12-volt motors or electric tarps.

The electric tarp stopped working for me, I am getting juice to the switch that controlled it (wind, unwind), and I'm getting juice to the motor that is attached to the gearbox that rolls the bar. I put a brand new motor on and for some reason the gearbox still isn't turning.

Why would I be getting juice TO the motor, but the gearbox isn't running??

Bad ground ??
Power to the motor means nothing if it does not have a return path to ground.

Check with a VOLT METER...are you getting full 12(?) volts to the motor? Sometimes what "appears" to be OK...as in testing with a LIGHT...may actually be source of your problem...reason for a METER in addition to Light test.

Gearbox locked up??

reset your circuit breaker that is in line with the hot side.
meter will show 12 volts at the switch and the motor but it is not there.
went thru this with one at work
$1200 + later, reset the circuit breaker which was down by the battery box and painted over
everything works
