O.T. Kawasaki ATV Vin. #

I just bought a Kawasaki 300 Prairie 4x4 at an auction and there was no key, I need to know where the vin. is located so I can get a key cut. If anyone can help me I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks, doorman.
 
This was a police confiscation that had been sitting for a while. A new sherrif was elected and wanted to clean out the impound yard. I didn't get a title, just a bill of sale and a release. Thanks for the response. doorman
 
So, wouldn't the VIN be on the paperwork you got from the cops?

Not trying to be an #&& here, but I'd sure hate to get into a situation where I had to prove ownership of the thing with NO supporting paperwork from the sale carrying the VIN!
 
I'm not really worried about a hassle as I know the new sheriff and he will confirm it once I find the vin. I was just hoping someone could tell me so I can find it before I leave for work tomorrow and hopefully get a key cut at the Kawasaki dealer.
 
The VIN should be stamped into the frame on the lower bars around the engine or on the frame on the neck where the handle bars go through. I never got a title with mine quad but I did get a hand written bill of sale with the Vin on it. But mine is a old 1989 500 quadzilla 2 stroke.
 
On bikes the VIN is usually on the steering stem part of the frame. Not sure about quads though. A Kawasaki dealer should have a key punch and all the codes for the keys. It's also highly likely they have a bunch of old keys you could try out to see if one would work. Then you could get a copy made and have the code. Dave
 
Mine is one the tube frame about even with your left toe on the left side. About 26 letter-number assortment.
 
Speaking of Kawasaki's, our son bought a used one last year and there is a place for a tube on the gas cap but no tube, where would it go? We have Honda's and the tube goes down the steering column.
