Decisions,decisions

Doggone it,I wish the auctioneers around here wouldn't schedule sales on the same day. The fall consignment sale is coming up this coming Saturday,but another auctioneer has an estate sale for a guy who used to be an Oliver dealer. There's a 660 with a wide front and factory 3pt,some older equipment but I don't see any toys,literature,manuals or parts listed. I'd love to have the 660,but without some other stuff to get me there,I just have a lot of thinking to do this week I guess.

You go to one, and send the wife to the other with a list of items you want her to bid on and of course a maximum you want to bid.
Problem solved!

rrlund;

Who's running the consignment sale? I think you live near Sheridan. Where is the sale?

I missed a consignment sale Saturday. My granddaughter got married. "Tour" car was his drag car. He runs nitrous so it really hums. Surprised he dsidn't get a ticket running stock with the headers open. The wedding and reception were great. They didn't really have much at the auction anyway. Always something, but nothing I couldn't do without.

Did that back in 74, (Well, sorta). Busy cutting silage the day a sale I wanted to attend came along. It was a 1949 JD G that had been in a fire, and reconditioned by the local dealer there. Had new rubber all around too. We had gone to check it out the previous sunday. Second son was only aprox three weeks old, so she took him to Gramma's and went to sale for me, around 120 miles away. Sent with instructions to bid up to $600 dollars, but don't let get away for $700. Came home that night and told me I was the proud new owner of the G! Said it brought $800. Turned out to be a very good buy. Used it in our farming operation for several years, before selling it. About 3 years later I became involved in tractors and did a tractor research through Two-Cylinder Club. Research came back it was shipped from factory the same day as my birthday. Took a couple years to get it bought back, but I am the proud owner again. This adds no value to the tractor for anyone but me, but I don't care about that!

Nothing competing with the local consignment auction here yesterday, but I checked it out on Saturday, and didn't even go. Just a bunch of junk, hardly any actual usable farm equipment. They did have a Massey 95 (the big Moline with Massey sheet metal)- would be interested to know what it went for.
