My friend has a pond that's filling up with silt. Would an auger work better than a conveyor to transport it out? TIA
 
If you are talking about an ordinary farm elevator, I don't think either one will work very well. You probably need a big backhoe or dragline.
 
This has gotta be a home project. A contractor said it would take 2 years and 10K to get the permits which would likely be denied.
 
paul, an elevator works real good for moving silt dirt and stone. i used my old meyer to move fill across a creek, saved about 1/2 mile drive round trip. getting ready to move rip rap with that one and the neighbors old kewaunee elevator for erosion control. i'll post some pics. just dont get carried away and overload the elevator!!
