TO 30 noise

Just bought a TO 30, Starts and runs great but makes a noise that sounds like something is hitting (tin sound) when it makes a rovolution. Timming gear-chain??. Not a heavy bonk like a rod. Have the valve cover off, but can't detect anything there. Have bad ears even with hearing aids so I can't tell if its front, top. bottom.

There is no timing chain but the tin oil slinger came off ours once and went thru the gears bending the oil pump shaft I wasn't there to hear it so don't know how it sounded.

The Continental Z129 on the TO-30 uses meshed timing gears not a chain.
Occasionally the cam gear gets loose and allows the cam to move back and forth.. Usually this causes the distributor drive shaft to move vertically and cause some damage to the rotor.
