Amish delivery

Last week I delivered an old hay rake that we used to use to one
Amish farm where they just moved into an empty field this spring,
and then a couple of days later I sold our old John Deere plow that
we have never used to another Amish neighbor and delivered it
too. Both are about 1.5 miles away, so it was a quick trip and the
H ran well and didn't leave me by the road, which was nice. I like
the look of the old horse drawn implements, but I'd rather
someone has them who will actually use them and these ones have
been sitting in our 'fence row' for years.

Is that a McCormick or a Case rake? Can't quite tell. Been selling a lot of them the last couple of years. Believe 5 rakes setting here to redo and eye on a couple more to get. Also going to be doing Horse drawn mowers. Keeping me busy. This is to the Amish.

It's a Case with some issues. The left wheel is held on the axle by a muffler clamp and the drive mechanism is missing on the left side, but the right wheel still drives it fairly well.

zach, is that your barn? nice looking board & batten. i have a simaler looking one with a nice working allice chalmers mag inside. d. coleman

Eli has been plowing with three or four horses when I have seen
him out and about. I think it is a John Deere plow since the beams
both say John Deere on top, but I could be wrong.

d. coleman, I saw your reply in modern view but I can't remember my password to reply there. We built that barn two years ago with lumber from our sawmill, which was new then. The mill lives under the wing along with the H and the MF 35 lives inside. I'm glad your mag is working, did you have to do a lot to get it to go?

I stand corrected. After taking a second look, I believe it is a John Deere. That fixed tail wheel threw me off. Does your Amish neighbor use a forecart with the plow?

I have never seen him use a forecart, but I don't know that he wouldn't if he had one. I've never asked him about it. He has been using a borrowed plow till he got this one. He stands on top of the beams as they go along, and when he stops them to rest he gets off, or if he needs to pick up something they've turned up.
