I have noticed this summer the corn has looked great, what I have noticed the size of the ears are not that big,(MN)how about you?

Here in my part of Ky ears on April planted corn seem to be normal girth, but short in length too. Shelled some at 15.4 moisture this week. Replanted corn is running 23%, and double replant even higher. Yield was not up to par but better than expected. Replanted acres yield will be low, with double replant even lower.

My corn in Southern Ohio has pretty nice 10 inch ears on it and some stalks have an extra ear.

I was handed 2 ears this early afternoon to take into work to show a skeptic..

Both came off of 2 different farms.. Same Pioneer number though..

Both measure about 11 1/2" long, one had 18 rows of kernels, the other has 20 rows.

Based on a chart from pioneer, the farm that the larger ear come from, at a fixed moisture content and so on, from counting the ears in 1000 feet, it came out that it would run a estimated 276 bu/ac.. doubt it'll work out that good, but won't know till the dust settles.

Not bad for the conditions we've had in SE lower MI this year
