Rain record set 2 years in a row on the same day

Springfield MO weather said in the last 2 years there has been a record set for the amount of rain on the same day in the last 2 years. Funny but true

Well, don't keep us in suspense. Tell us how much it rained each time. I guess the same storm system that dumped on you (Hermine) is the one that gave us 8 inches on Tuesday and Wednesday, in central Texas.

Weather people would not have much to talk about other than current conditions and forecast if they did not plow us with all of these "facts" about records and stuff. There is no such thing as an "average" rainfall in as much as what the rainfall "should be" on any given day. It is what it is.
If you tracked it back far enough, you could find it was likely not a "record" at all.

It was not all that much something like 1.74 last year and this year it was something like 1.80 not really that much difference but still more one year later
