Good morning: GUYS

I am starting to see mole hills and trails in my
yard, What is the best and easy way to kill them so they do not return again.

MANY THANKS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY

A friend from work had that problem several years ago. He tried almost everything and still moles. He finally borrowed a .357 Magnum from his brother-in-law. He mashed down the mole runs and waited. It took a lot of waiting but they finally started digging. His neighbors thought he had lost his mind when he shot but he did get the mole. That is probably not the best way to get them.

Moth balls in the run has worked on my yard. You might try a grub killer on the yard too, as that is what the moles are looking for.

I have heard that planting a castor bean would keep them out. My grand parents did this to keep them out of their garden. Castor beans are poison so wouldn't be good around children.

We used to have a cat that was death on moles. Since she died of old age, we are seeing hills again.....
Maybe one of the strays around will pick up where she left off, if they're hungry enough.

This has been on these forums off and on for some time, and the answer is still a simple one. An application of agricultural lime ( at the rate of 3 tons per acre ) will raise the ph of the soil to a level that the grubs in the soil will not live in. The grubs are the principal food for the moles, so, no grubs, no moles. And as an added benefit you get a great looking yard.

I have been told that Juicy Fruit chewing gum is the best way to kill them but have not had to try it myself yet. Wear gloves so they can't smell that you handled it.

It just iswn"t my yard.... Many acres of hayfields. Their hills play havoc with my sickle bar mower. can"t see the hills in the hay. Then bang! a stone in the hill catches in the blades, and usually means new knife, possibly new gard... Got a way to keep moles off 60 acres?

Tom is correct, moles will be gone if grubs are gone. I had about 3 acres of yard, moles where real bad, i sprayed to kill grubs and that ended mole problem for about three years then i started to see a few. One more way that worked for me was to let X have house with yard, no more moles, no more grubs. ( second way costly but "MOLES GONE" "GRUBS GONE" LOL Have a nice day

Hi JR Frye: I wonder how many are talking about "Pocket Gophers?" Google Pocket Gopher and read Univ Iowa links.. I"ve got herds of "em.. So far quick exhaust pumped into tunnel for 15 minutes seems to kill them. BTW they can leave piles of dirt 2 feet across and 6 inch high in middle.. (bigger then moles) . ag.
Pocket Gopher not mole?

I trap em, nash trap, spikes trap, cizzor trap.all effective in certain conditions.I stopped keeping count after 200 ,8 years of trapping.had a couple come in this spring, got em.the grub kill didnt work for me,I put it on extra strong.I cut open moles, they eat mostly earth worms, some beetles and grubs.. when i start gettin one of those big mounds,I mix up some water and bleach ,clear away the dirt and pour a gallon in.sometimes they run out of the hole.I think one of the best things I did was on the spike trap,it had 3 spike on each side, one summer the ground was so hard the spike wouldnt do in,so i cut off the 2 outside spikes on each side and sharpened the center ones.Man didi that make a difference,so i cut all my spike traps that way.haha
