Hope the Howells and the other TX folks are ok after the Dallas tornados.

Nancy and I are high and somewhat dry in Hutchins, TX.

There was a tornado in Ferris, TX which is south of us on Interstate 45.

Later there was another tornado in Seagoville, TX which is northeast of us on US 175.

A live weather report was broadcast from a helicopter by a local tv channel; amazing live video of the tornado funnel forming.

We are OK; thanks for your concern.

James isn't it interesting how those tornados flit around the contry side? A few hundred feet can make a difference. Glad you and Nancy are OK. We got 2.5 inch of rain last night on the Alfalfa. I see cutting mumber five on the horizon if we get the sunshine to get the heat-hour units. Going to apply foliar fertlizer to give it a boost. Sorry Billy if I stole your thread.

Daughter and family live in Dallas, close to Love Field. They didn't have any damage but the youngest grand daughter did her homework in the bathtub when the storm went over them.

Some years ago I saw a news video made from a chopper following a tornado. They moved in so close you could see the tip of the funnel moving on the ground. It looked just like an elephant's trunk flitting along picking up things and spitting them out. It was amazing to watch. I don't want to be that close to one of the suckers (Pun intended).

You must be a little too far east or south. Georgetown, Killeen, Belton area got 10 to 13 inches. Belton declared a state of emergency.

Numerous places just west of downtown Dallas (Arlington, Bedford, etc) had flooding problems.

Went through two places of high water (maybe 10 inches)on my way to work. The water wasn't moving, so just eased through it. If it had been moving, I never would have driven through it. It wasn't a problem for my truck.

The tv stations had a couple of choppers in the air filming the storm. I don't know how close they were, but with the zoom lenses you could easily see the rotation in the clouds and we saw several funnels form.

One did touch down in Seagoville (east of us). They caught it on film and it took out several transformers (lots of sparks), some roofs, trees, etc.

We were very fortunate to have them go around us.

Many years ago a tornado tore through downtown Lancaster, TX about 10 miles southwest of us and destroyed all the buildings.

Sounds like you've got another good crop coming along.
