Well, after 10 years of wanting to go, I finally made it up to the WMSTR show in Rollag MN this year. It was SO much fun - I loved everything about it!

Here are some pics:

Or some more pics for those interested...

been there 2x. loved it. Hope to be back in '11. Did'ja notice the sawmill by the lake "cheats"??? they have a lazer on the rafter marking the saw position at the rollway to set up the loaded carrage better. I KNOW thats not origonal.

As the first picture started to roll down from the top, I thought- Wow, a tornado! What could be more fun than that at a tractor show?

Looks like fun-

Yeah - I was thinking about that after watching a lot of the guys getting their tractors ready for the parade...

(and after fighting various problems with some of my old tractors recently - and also using my modern, nice, air conditioned JD 4840)...

I saw leaky water pumps, loose old steel wheels with worn bushings, an ancient old one cylinder tractor with barely enough umpphhh to make it up the parade hill, deafening gear noise, etc...

By the time I watched one big old prairie beast have to back up and go forward a couple of times to make a turn, it really sunk in that - the good old days were great in a lot of ways - but modern conveniences are really nice, too...

We were there for two days and didn't really get to see everything like I wanted. I can't wait to go back next year!

It was really great swapping stories with folks and seeing all the sights and eating a lot of great food.

My hat is off to everyone that put in so much effort for the show and the collection itself and into the grounds area. It is obvious that a lot of people have put a tremendous amount of effort into putting it on.

Yep, Lot's of smoke at the Pagent of Steam too. I saw a DEC enforcement vehicle there this year and wondered if they have a problem with the smoke. Probably only a matter of time before they won't allow it.

A very well done group of photos! I appreciate you starting the set with a real steam engine. Looks like a Soo Line or CB&Q engine. 0-6-0? Very nice! All humor aside, I love ALL steam. From the mighty Garrets of South Africa, to the live steam offerings in H.O. scale. Traction engines, steam tramps, submarines, power facilities (Yes, nuclear too), construction equipment, logging equipment, etc., etc. It's one of the greatest energy sources we've happened upon. Thanks for the pics.
