I have a 60 Standard John Deere with a starter that has the tag missing. The number stamped on the armature is RAS 5162 .Can someone tell me what starter number I have by this number? I need to replace the field coils and drive on it anyone know where I can find these parts?

I've had very good luck with Eagle Tractor Parts at

1-800-833-5867

But didn't get them to answer at their web site.

Back on the 3rd of September you asked this same question and received and answer on the JD forum. All you had to do is check the tractor's serial number to know which starter. None of us here can see the tractor from our computer screens.
Any shop that carries Delco starter parts can obtain the fields.
You could even go to the parts section of the JD web site and obtain the JD part number.

Serial number on my tractor is 6025066.according to your post I would have starter number DR 1108950.
That particular starter has a 10 tooth drive I have an 11 tooth drive.something does not jive. That is why I thought I might be able to identify the starter by the number on the armature.

That armature crosses to a #1802 lester #. It fits a 30mt delco starter. The problem is that armature fits a huge # of starters. If you take it to a rebuild shop they can figure out what fields it takes. The drive will be the same way, there isnt that many 11 tooth drives for that style starter so a couple measurements , or just comparing the drives will work. I'll try to remember to look it up tomorrow at work and try to find the field and drive #'s. jstpa
