Posted on oliver forum about my 1650 steering quiting. After doing all the things I shouldn't,checked preasure, stuck valves, brocken spring ETC.When't and greased the front end for a change(I seam to never do it more than once a year).now it steers like it did before.I guess I almost seized the kingpin(If that's what it's called)Reminded me of my dad's first ever new truck, seized while driving and couldn't turn the next corner.Said it took ALOT of heat to get it loose.

I have a friend/partner that every time we get a new to us tractor in he wants to put the grease and oil on every thing. I have to tell him hey hold off with the grease etc till I have it running and know what all I need to take apart before you make it so it is a mess to take apart

You should grease that quill shaft that comes down out of the power steering cylinder VERY REGULARLY!!!! The tie rod mount is on the bottom of it. That shaft is prone to breaking. I replace several each year. You can"t hardly find any good used ones. New they are $465 plus the needle bearings and seals. When you add in the labor of removing the radiator to get to the top to remove the retaining nut. You can have a thousand dollar repair if hired done and five hundred dollars do it your self. Makes a three dollar tube of grease look cheap.
