My wifes ex has a Cub Cadet [ late 60"s] 8 or 10 hp that keeps blowing the head and gasket..He's replaced the head a couple of times himself, then blows the gasket and head cracks around the sparkplug hole...My question is ; Is there supposed to be a piece of "tin" covering the head for air direction or is it supposed to be open ?? Thanks , Roy

Yes it should have a piece on top of it to keep the cooling air going across it rather than up over it as with out the top piece.

Although this is a 1971 it still retains the metal air flow shield.

most engines are painted yellow . This is a but this one in black is also Cub variety 10 hp. Need more info I can Email
