Adjusting F150 emerg. brake

Gary,
Do you have drum brakes or disc brakes in back?
If drum brakes, I imagine you adjust the star wheel after pulling the oblong rubber plug out on the backing plate.
If you have disc brakes, I believe their is a small drum inside the disc that operates the parking brake. I've never seen one in person, so I can't elaborate more. Maybe a visit to the Ford Truck Enthusiest website may offer some ideas?

If you have disc brakes, there's a small drum inside the rotor like said, and you adjust it with a screw driver to spin out the little star wheel on the adjuster just like any drum brake with that set up. There's a rubber plug on the backing plate that you need to take off. I have seen one where the shoes linings came unglued from the actual brake shoes in there, so if you have a lot of free play all of a sudden, I would check for that. It made a clinking sound when moving sometimes.

If it's got drum brakes... I don't beleive there's any way to adjust it. My Ranger has no adjustment and the 150 should have the same brakes. If it won't hold you may have seized cables or the shoes are simply shot/out of adjustment. Is the main pedal soft/low?

You sure the cables aren't just seized? I know my Ranger... the main cable from the pedal down through the firewall is seized solid. The pedal will go down and has quite a good feel to it but it doesn't do a damn thing at the shoes...
Look under the cab and find the end of the front cable... and have someone apply the brake. See if it moves... Then pull the drums and see if it applies in there.
