3 pt lift/lower started making noises the other day and finally got to the point of not wanting to raise. What might I be looking at??

Got enough fluid in it? There should be a dipstick on the right side above the belt pulley opening. I'd also ask this question at external_link.

Might be a number of things, the other poster told you where one of the dipsticks are, there are 3. if your tractor is series 1, you need to check all. Series 1 tractors have around muffler, and a round hole for the muffler in the sheet metal, an oil bath air filter, headlights up front, and the hi-lo lever will just have a button on top, without any ridge or guard, around the front or right side of it. The second dipstick has a hexagonal head, and is to the left of the shifter. The reason you should check the second dipstick, is that in early tractors, the 2 compartments were separate, and the front can be empty, but the power director compartment can be full. If you have a busted hyd hose to the cylinder, the rear gearbox compartment can fill up with hyd oil, and actually overflow, from the rear differential dipstick (farthest back of the 3).
