Hey, I tried to shift with the agriomatic once and just got grinding. That was a couple years ago and I haven't tried since. Since you said only low range, I went out and tried it. Works like a charm. Gonna keep it in low range as much as possible and try to stop using the foot clutch until the agriomatic becomes a habit. If I get the hang of it, you may have saved me a bunch of money and let me hang onto my baby.

Dave. You are welcome!
As I understand, your current tractor has Agriomatic too? Is that a D324? A D436 or 453 ;-) is much more tractor but if your current tractor makes you happy, keep it and spend your money on something else.
Getting the hang of using the Agriomatic basically as a hand clutch for the transmission takes a while but I'm sure you will. Bear in mind though that using the Agriomatic lever to stop the tractor's movement in a pinch is crucial. If you have a high rotational inertia implement (like a bush hog) on the PTO this will keep pushing the tractor further than you will like if you only depress the foot clutch.

The Agriomatic clutch is a very sturdy thing, as I explained; they will not give out as easy as a TA. However, should the clutch start slipping it can be adjusted by slightly rotating the circular disks on the outside of the transmission (left and right).

I have the D326 (1964 model 24HP) with agriomatic. Looking at a D439
which is the same overall size except longer to accomodate the 4cyl motor and is 36HP. The one at the moment has water getting in the oil and I'm afraid it may be the orings at the bottem of the sleeves which I don't want to fix. Talked to the guy on the phoneand didn't really trust him for some reason. If it doesn't sell, I may call him again and go look at it with cash in hand and see if he'll talk.
However, if a 383, 423, or 453 comes along at a reasonable price and distance..............

Thanks again,

Dave
