Tractor opinions

I am thinking about updating tractors and I need some input. I would like to find a late model tractor with a loader that I can plant, hay and feed with. So here are the questions, How much power do I need to pull a 6 row 7000 JD with yetter no tills assuming that I find a MFWD tractor. Also, based on a limited budget of under 40k what machines have you had experience with that held up to the job?

NH TB 110, 2004 model, with a BH FEL, canopy, and a shade over 400 hours ran me around 22K this past spring with 95 hp on the PTO and 108 hp drawbar.

I agree with that. How new are you looking? The CaseIH Farmall 95U is a real nice tractor. Real excellent maintence record. Its a little more money than the Farmall 95 but it has the wet clutch and hydraulic PTO so its a lot more versatile.

What local dealer brands are available and are the dealers as stable as can be expected?

Having a local dealer available is pretty nice. In the 1970s I had to do a little parts chasing for Minneapolis Moline parts and it wasn't fun, and was very time consuming.

Exactly! Dealer reputation and support is way more important than the brand name or color of the tractor. Find a local dealer with a good reputation, tell him what you will be using the tractor for, and he will recommend the size and model you need.
