John Deere 720 mower horse power requirments

We have a small scale farm and we are down to the last bit of hay for the season. However money is tight and we are down to our last tractor and Allis chalmers 5040. It is only 40 horse and i was wondering if it would run our john deere haybine a 720 MoCo. it can rune every thing else but i would hate to over do it and break that tractor. any ideas?

How wide is the mo-co?if the tractor is too small,it just wuold not have enough power to run the mower efficiently.It would not"break" your tractor.hook up to the moer and try it.you'll know in short order weather (or not) the tractor will pull it.

What HP does the MFGer recomend?

You should be okay in light hay but in heavy hay you will not have enough power. Your 5040 is 40 pto hp.
