Yesterday afternoon my wife gave birth to our first son, Alexander Oliver Nickel at 12:34 p.m. Weighed in at only 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was 19.5 inches long.

Talk about an emotional ride. Can't wait until he is old enough to help hold a wrench!

congradulations!!!! handsome young rascal ya got there. from the grin on his face he is already dreaming about......." a cab with air conditioning...and a radio in MY tractor!!!!"

Congratulations to both you and your wife.

Got a winning smile on his face; makes you wonder what he's thinking.

Good looking young man; know that both of you are proud of him.

Thanks for sharing his photo with us.

Congrats! He'll be 'helping' you before you know it. (and sometimes, it will even be legitimate help!) Luke is 5, and has been working on tractors with me since he was 3. You'll soon find that time goes faster when you're a parent, and sleep is a hard-to-come-by commodity.

Congratulations: Yep, that's an Oliver smile. He is resting right now but he will be ready soon enough to help Dad drive those tractors. Best to all in your family.. Take care.. ag (ret)

Congratulations! Be sure to take time to enjoy him while he is small. He will be grown before you know it! Good looking young man.

Congratulations!!! He doesn't look very green though, and in this case, that's probably a good thing.

You and the Mrs. take good care of him and yourselves, and never forget that he is YOUR child, not mine or anyone else's, no matter what they may think or try to convince you or him of. Love him well, learn him well, and to be proud, and do it YOUR way.

How quickly it passes. Enjoy him while you can- we just married off our youngest 3 weeks ago, at age 28- Mom and I will be married 40 years come February. Where does the time go? Take time to play and go fishing. The silage will still be there when you get back!

Congrats Donovan and Wife!

Bring him home on an open station tractor with cap on? LOL That's kinda how my face looks in the spring - just never get to see the big smile!

Congratulations, a true blessing from God. Don't let time get away, spend it with the family. My youngest is 36 and i know it was just yesterday they looked the age of your son.

He'll be coming home tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to all who have commented. Until you become a parent, you just can't imagine the extreme amount of pride and I'm already feeling it. He's not even 2 days old yet either.

He got Alexander from his deceased uncle, my 3rd brother (I'm 5 of 5). It was his middle name and he was quite proud of it. This is just a small tribute to the best brother I could have ever asked for. He crossed the finish line at the Little Rock marathon 2 1/2 years ago and that was it. He collapsed and his heart had given out. We recently got a letter from Harvard. They are studying his case to try to make improvements in sports medicine so they can make the Boston Marathon better and safer. He also competed in the Boston the year before, finishing in the top 700 or so.

Oliver was originally supposed to be my middle name, but Dad nixed that idea as he didn't want me named after any tractors. Fast forward a few years and I rebuilt my grandpa's 1600 and have a slight case of meadow green fever. It only seemed natural to put the names together.I love the name Oliver and while I wish it could have been mine, I'm just as proud to give it to him instead.

Enjoy the ride Don.
My little guy,Jack Alexander is three months old. Time goes fast, and they change quick. Get used to sleeping on the couch and helping out as much as she asks.
My daughter is five now, going on 15 at times. We had to stop harvest when she was born (Oct 14) so I understand you trying to get everthing done befor the baby came.

Take lots of picture, they don't get young again and they change so fast. My wife took Jack to see her dad in Nova Scotia 4 days ago. She emails me pictures of him every day - its unbelievable the changes in such a short time.

Take care. Get some sleep, your going to need it. Grant
