New Holland 1431 Discbine Axle Problems / Please Help!

cn"t figure this one out. My 1431 started to develop this axle bent look. Tires are really starting wear on the insides. axles arent bent and there is limited play in the xle support. Does nyon have any ideas about this? THe New Holland dealer said over the phone that he had never heard of a problem like this. I mow maybe 125 acres a season. 2003 model. I appreciate any help you can give.Take a look at the pictures. My e-mail is [email protected] or call 330-628-9188 THanks, David

I would have to agree that since your axles appear to be level with the ground that the problem has to be in the bearings. Maybe just need tightening.

I can see by the way the cylinder is not straight with the frame you have problems in the pivot or the arm itself is bent. A 1431 is a heavy machine and if it was dropped into a washout or badger hole it is very possible the arm was bent. I think your going to have to remove the lift arm to make sure the pivot pin and the arm bushing are not badly worn. If the pin and bushing are good then the arm is bent and your going to have to replace it. Those arms carry alot of weight and need to be greased every day.

I agree 100%. The guy whose job it was to put on the wheel hubs was probably hung over that day and put way to much grease in. It's just time to repack with fresh grease and re-tighten. The owners manual probably lists this procedure as something you should do every season anyway (as a CYA maintenance item).

Looks to me like the radius arm is bent and the spindle is simply pointing upwards at the cap... Plain looks like an inadequate design for the weight it's carrying. That's a heavy machine. You can either tear the thing apart and check for worn pivot pins and bent arms and replace as necessary... or just turn the wheels around and wear the other side off. I wouldn't get too excited about it myself.

After going out and looking again......... I can see that it looks like the bushing in the arm must be worn. THat is the only thing I believe it can be. I did check the wheel bearings and they are tight. I sure appreciate your help!!!!

Could you possibly be running too high air pressure in tires? High flotation tires are supposed to act similar to springs along with increasing foot print.
