Ok, it's hardly a "tractor" but it does do some work for me and pulls a little trailer. I got an old Ariens YT1138 with no mower deck and got it running for my son to cruise around on (he's 9).
This summer as a project for he and I to do, we stripped down the hood and rear fender and painted it all up. Here's some pictures.

And the completed tractor, still needs the frame and wheels painted but we can do that when he's here next summer.

It has a bit of an identity crisis.........Ariens tractor, originally some sort of orange/red, now Ford Blue with flames of Allis Chalmers orange and JD Yellow with the old seat from my JD lawn tractor. The paint was rattle cans of tractor paint from Menards, I think it was a Rustoleum product. Came out looking good!

One very smart young man - he's wearing earmuff hearing protection.

Neat looking little "tractor".

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Certainly it's a tractor.
Did you know it was originally a New Holland S-8?
I worked at an AC, NH, NI,Homelite, etc. etc. dealer in the 70's, on the edge of a city. We sold AC lawn tractors by the boat load. Then when NH entered the market we sold boat loads of them. Then when Ariens bought the lawn and garden line we sold boat loads of them ! Buddy of mine who started there in the early 80's when I quit is still there, and is one of the most successful sales people of Simplicity and Ferris around.

keep that kid in the garage tinkering even if you need to find stupid useless stuff for the two of you to do he will learn alot more in the garage than any t.v. or video game can show him prolly learn more in the garage than he will at school one can never have too much knowledge

He loves spending time in the shop with me. He did a lot of the sanding himself (wearing a good quality dust mask) and helped disassemble and reassemble it.
He likes tearing things apart just like I did when I was a kid. Eventually I started putting things back together........then eventually I put them back together and they actually worked. He's great at assembling things by reading instructions, not a common "guy" trait. I intend to keep him involved with shop projects as much as possible. Once he gets a little older he and I will rebuild an old vehicle for him........maybe one for me too if I'm lucky.

Nice spray job.

James beat me to the punch, good teaching him to use ear protection.

Also might come in handy when he gets married. I just pretend I didn"t hear what she said.

I have some hearing loss from being stupid when I was younger, that's why he wears 'em.
