Frustration about attending tractor pull

Just venting for a moment.
Found out this mornin' about some antique tractor pulls not far away-- just started a half hour ago.
Wife's workin today.
Couldn't find anybody else on short notice to drive me and push me around in the wheel chair.
Guess that's what I get for bein' somewhat of a recluse, lol.
But its all good, I get to sit here and vent on Tractor Talk.
Thanks for listening, Dan

I wished I were your neighbor. There was a big pull goin' on in Owatonna,MN this am at the county fair.Decided to work in the shop instead 'cause no one else wanted to go.

You guys are great!!!

I live in the boonies, in central Illinois, nearest "big" town is Champaign.

Thanks again, I'll check back later for anymore replies, but these two sure help.

Looks like you are getting traction. I'm just back from the pull at the Paisly Ontario steam show.
Word had it this was some super tough high traction clay track, not so. I should have clued in while watching the 3500lb class that no front ends were raising. I had already aired up the tires and shorted the drawbar from the last loose track. I should have saved myself the bother. Spun out about mid pack.
Track was so hard, black rubber skid marks were being left on the track instead of spin out holes. On occasion smoke could be seen from the spinning tires.

Thought you were going to tell about the frustration like I had at the combine demolition derby at the fair this year. Seven combines and it still took over three hours. WAAAAYHHHAAAHHHAAAY too much time between heats. Had me WISHING I was at home in front of the computer instead!

No- I kinda promised to go down to Ramsey with the big tractor that day. Long way down there, but I like the classes and the people, and I can hook 4 times if I want. There's a pull in Rantoul that day also, close but only 1 hook.

Had the local pull in Mansfield today- about 70 tractors, lots of friends, and a good track. Took both 900s and the G705, all in the 10,000 class, won with the G705 and got third with the "900", but later found out the second place tractor had a turbo on it. Didn't appreciate that very much, since it was a money pull. Cost me a few bucks in winnings. Good day overall. Guess we'll see you in Delavan.

Wow--Mansfield is the one I missed out on.
Glad to hear about it...

Hey glennster,
I'm just South of Champaign,
I-57 exit 229 Monticello Road,
Then a few miles from there.
Ya' get down this way runnin' errands,
I'm usually just settin', goin' out of my mind...
Oh, I can crutch it short distances,
but for awhile gotta do the wheelchair for any distance.
Shoulders/neck tore-up, can't even wheel the thing much myself.
Gotta have a volunteer.
So, swing by and pick me up and I'll ride along on errands.
Can't travel real far, aggravates the spinal cord, but I can ride an hour or less okay (one way).
You could pick me up to run errands in big, ol' Champaign-Urbana, or thereabouts, then drop me back off.
Get sick of me, You can boot me out and I'll stick my thumb out or call the wife to fetch me, lol.
Think about it, not too busy these days...
Tired, sorry for ramblin' on a bit.
Headin' for bed--good night all.
