Kinda OT: anybody ever trade hay for beef

I get half the hay from about 18 acres and don't have any place to keep animals. Horse people pay more money than cow people for hay. Sometimes I get some hay that isn't perfect and can't go to horses. I'm wondering how a guy that raises a few steers might deal with me to supply him with hay in exchange for beef? What kind of a deal would be fair to both parties? Thanks

Not to criticize the whole idea, but if you only get half of 18 acres, and only some of it isn't salable to horse people,I don't think that little bit of hay will get you much beef. I might offer you a few pounds of burger to show my apreciation if you were to drop off half a dozen or so round bales of damaged hay.

Ok so if I have say fifteen 500 lb bales of alfalfa timothy that got properly baled but got rained on once before getting it under roof so there's a thin outside layer with some mold it's good for maybe 10 lbs of hamburger? Plus the hay has to be delivered too? You drive a hard bargain. lol

Yeah, I do that every year. I sell this guy so many bales and in return he sells me a half of beef. Works out great and is much better ethan store bought. He got extra bales last year and ended up paying me in cash and beef. I was looking at a T-bone just the other day.
