Rain!!!!!!!!!!

After record heat and some drought we're wet now. Monday evening got 1.6 in. , Tuesday around noon had another 1.5 in. Last night it rained pretty much all night long. Just dumped the rain gauge with 3.2 in. Finally have water standing on pasture. Hope all that need rain get some of this. It sure is a blessing. Can stop feeding hay now.

Looks like more rain today too.

It's going south of us today as usual. Although sometimes to the north. But almost always 40% chance of rain. The Alfalfa grew to twelve inches tall in twelve weeks. The ground was so dry that it dried down in one day. First crop was off 30% second looks like off 60%.

I'll trade you weather for a few weeks! We've been wet since half way through planting. Working on 1st and 2nd crop at the same time (got the last of the 1st crop baled the week before last), getting stuck while mowing... not fun! 5" in an hour and a half last week, rained twice since then. Just getting firm enough to move round bales off the field now, and have some alfalfa that I want to bale today...but it has clouded up and may rain again. Still too soft to combine on fields with seeding under the oats, too.

Bring it on. I'm ready to trade. I've had to start feeding dry hay. The pastures are about gone. Rain's been missing us all the way around. 4 inches to the north of us last week, some flooded streams to the south. I talked to a guy at a dealership yesterday who was cleaning up storm damage. He was telling about all the one inch plus rains he'd had lately. Corn's maturing fast. Saw some out east of town yesterday that looked like it was October. Leaves all dead, ears tipped down with the husks open. This is getting darned frustrating.

Very hot and dry in Dallas. 19 consecutive days of 100+ heat and no measurable rain. Been running the soaker hose around the foundation for over a week and its not keeping up.

Brought two horses in from the farm. I'll be starting them on hay tonight.

Could sure use a good slow soaking rain of 2 in + in Dallas and at the farm.

We got a good two inch rain to help our irrigation. We have had about two weeks of 100 to 105 tempetures. Will be ready to cut fourth cutting the week. Hope to get a fifth cutting.
