OT Durango front diff

Wife’s 2003 Durango, 4.7 SLT (2wd/4wd) has just started dripping oil from the front diff. I slid under it to find the L/H axleshaft has some play at the diff end, and leaking seal, so assume more than a bad CV, possibly a bearing going out in the diff? Has anyone see this problem, or been into the front diff on a Durango/Dakota? Well behind haying and harvest coming up, this is a problem I don’t need! TIA.
Chris

there is an outer axle bearing and seal in the differential, behind the c/v shaft. from my book, it looks like you need to drop the c/v drive shaft, differential cover, then pull the lt axle out. the bearing is part # 52111167aa from chrysler, 7.00 list price. the seal is part number 52069706, price 6.95 . flat rate time is 1.5 hours to change the left side. (drivers side). the right side bearing is 2.3 hours to change. the cover uses silicone gasket sealer. need some diff oil too.

If you are not hearing any noise from the diff then I would put a seal in and see what happens. They will have some play in them.
