Proper Hydraulic Oil

In my collection of old tractors the most modern one is a 1964 Case 530CK (Construction King). I have a parts catalog for it and for Model 32 Loader Backhoe that's attached to it. I have also found online an Operaters Manual for a Case 530 CK Wheel Tractor. From it I have learned the Construction King is a whole other animal. None of this info indicates the proper hyd fluid it uses. The hyd pump that operates the loader and backhoe is same type and p/n that operates the landing gear on Cessna aircraft. My Parts catalog confirms that. Cessna No 21010-1 DBE "L" series. Does anyone knows what type of Hyd Oil I need my old backhoe?

buddy of mine has a oil field lease service...he uses R&O in his CK's...i run HYTRAN in my dozer and it has a Cessna pump.

Let,s see 45 year old machine.. If what oil you use is the only problem you shure have a keeper.
Wal-Mart R & O would probably be much better than so it is seen in it,s life. Any good clean hydraulic oril or in worst case pure 30 wt non dertergent oil.

Daniel: The Farmall 300 and 350 series also have a Cessna hyd pump. IHC HyTran used on them. Those pumps cost about $1400 and are only used on the 300/350 and salvage yards don't get many, if any. Makes restoring spendy. I would guess Cessna called for fluid that operated well with large changes in temp and altitude which, of course, doesn't apply to your Case. ag

Gee I didn"t realize it was that old. No wonder it"s getting hard to start. Of course the biggest problem I have is wasps have taken up residency under the dash. I have to fight with them every time I want to use it. Thanks for your reply. Dan

Thank you for responding. Someone with a dozer that has a Cessna pump told me he uses that Hy Tran fluid too. I want to especially thank you for reminding me just how blessed I am. Back on Sept 7, 2004 I had to shell out $286.50 to the Surplus Center in Lincoln Ne. for a brand spanking new Cessna pump. I was sort of angry with myself for ordering it without checking the old one out, because when I did I discovered it was fine. Because the over flow hose on the radiator must have been missing for a long time dripping right on the coupling rusting out the splines. I consoled myself by thinking had I got the pump from Cessna it would probably have cost $500 Thanks,Dan Than

It's NOT an aircraft pump..Cessna makes a line
of industrial hydraulic pumps. They run good
on most any grade of petroleum oil, from ATF to
10-30 to hytran. Being an aluminum pump with
bushings rather than bearing they are considered
a "throw away" pump in the trade. (replace rather
than rebuildable)
