It's been a beastly 90° and 90% temps/humidity here for the last couple of weeks. But I think that summer came to a close on Friday night.
Night time temps are supposed to be in the mid 50s tonight and no higher than mid 60s for the next 10 day outlook.
Daytime temps and humidity will still make both you and your dog pant for a couple more weeks.
But the night temps are already in decline.
Suits me fine. I've had enough of summer.
I sleep better with the windows open than with the AC on.

Glad for you UD. This is the hottest summer I can remember. I think we will have a few more weeks. At least deer season opened today.
Ron

We've got several more weeks before we can get to where you are. It has been really hot here this summer, but it probably seems worse since the last two summers have been so mild. I'll be glad when summer is over, but I would be even more glad if we got some rain THIS WEEK.

I sure wish Al Gore would come out of hiding and give a global warming speech- seems every time he did, it would get colder. We could use a few of those speeches in Illinois!

i'll be happy when it get below 90 before 10 pm...theres 2 puddles of brass under the monkey.

It has been hot here in the NW corner of SC, but I remember several hotter summers in the 80's and 90's and my catfish pond has held up better this year than in the last 5 years.

We were in your neck of the woods over the weekend Ultradog and it was plenty hot on Saturday afternoon. I thought it was just the weather here (about 45° when I got up today) but good to hear it cooled down a bit for you too, it was getting pretty hard to take!

Very hot and dry her in N. Tx. We have had 17 consecutive days of 100+ weather. Today"s hi is only 99, but back over 100 for the next 7 days.

Think the weatherman said this is the 10th hottest summer on record.

We need rain!

We get rain every couple of days. I'd gladly trade weather with you for a couple weeks so it can dry out the horses paddock and I can do some work on the drainage there! I am hoping for a dry fall.

(quoted from post at 09:12:01 08/16/10) Wake up people, there is Global Warming.

There may be. But to blame it on mankind is the issue. Al Gore and tree-huggers in general use ANY data they can get their hands on to advance their abundant, government-must-control-our-lives agenda. An oil well just dumped millions of gallons of crude into the Gulf and already they're saying that the damage isn't as bad as first thought. The idea that we need the EPA to issue "ozone-alerts" in specific cities, telling us to not fuel our cars or cut our grass is what I get mad about. We need to start pushing back at all the nonsense spewed out by the eco-terrorists that is taken in by the government as gospel so they can create an agency or bureau and hire a bunch of people to push paper around. Sorry for the rant but "bng9-2000" doesn't have a clue on anything other what the propagandists have fed him/her

JML755 Are you saying that the majority of educated scientist do not have a clue as to what they are
talking about? You listen to Lumballs and Becky too
much.

Remember when they said the Haiti aerthquake knocked the earth 4 degrees off its axis/orbit?that alone could cause major clinate change.then I read that the earth ha actually cooled a degree or two in the last 100 years. Then I remember that while in grade school, they told us that we are in" a warm period during a major ice age".Does anyone really know?

The problem being that many, if not most educated scientists are merely making educated guesses. I really don't think anybody knows exactly what is happening or how or why it is happening. We won't know the what or the how until after it happens and the why may never be known! Why do I feel like Chrissy Snow from Three's Company now? I have noticed that weather forecasters are much less accurate than ever........or maybe it's because I am paying closer attention to them now.

First off, I DON'T listen to those guys at all. They can be as extreme at times as anybody.

Your "scientists" tend to be professors at universities which tend to be abundant. They formulate theories based upon what they believe or think and if they are abundant, their beliefs or thoughts will reflect that. I.e. if you're a tree hugging scientist, you'll believe first, that there is global warming, then you'll go find data to prove your theory. There is great alarm spread ("sky is falling, sky is falling") when they state that the average earth temperature has moved even a fraction of a degree. But it is entirely possible it would have moved that much if man was not even on the face of the earth anymore!

My point is that the global warming scare is causing politicians to enact inane, stupid, costly rules & regulations (think cap-and-trade) that will affect all of us in a negative way without any proof that these will change the supposedly "bad" outcome of a warming globe.

We've gone through ice ages and warming periods in the past which proves that our earth is not a static object. We can't say that "we like this current climate" and pass laws and regulations to keep it that way. Al Gore lost an election and needed a cause to spend his free time on.

It is interesting that his mansion in TN was a poster-child for exactly what he was railing against in public.

So, bng9-2000, if you and all your tree-hugger friends want to do without electricity, products made from oil or food produced by farmers with a big carbon footprint, go ahead. But don't expect the rest of us to believe every doom and gloom indictement of our society and implement extreme measures that degrade our life style and cost us time and/or money just because you say so.
