I want to paint my #5 mower. Was the sickle bar green or some other color when these were new? Almost thinking it would look neat to be black.

Cleaned one up a couple of years ago; didn"t find any old paint under the guards.

Cleaned it with a rotary brush and painted it with clear coat.

I got some new guards for mine from John Deere this year. They are black.
