Morning Guys,

Helping my neighbor up the road with some dirty wheat, so had to change out the headers on my combine.

Sure hope that old dodger still works, 'cause I haven't even as much as glanced at it for many years. :>)

Is that dirty wheat the result of lots of rain or is it a result of wheat on wheat?
I read there is going to be some serious dockage on that in the near future.

Wet; too darned many weeds in the mix.

So we're in the process of swathin' after his custom cutters with their 3 big STX combines, huge grain cart, three semis and their 10-man crew pulled out on him and headed for better pickings.

Just betcha ol' Allan with his 40-year-old junk can get that grain in the bin. :>)

Allan, just wondering how you were coming with restoring that F2 that you bought back after all those years? I sure admire your determination and respect for the older equipment.

A true good neighbor spirit there Allan. Hope all goes good and you get that wheat harvested in good condition to man, crop, and machine.

Determination, is that what ya call it? I thought it was just plain old bull-headedness. :>)

Yeah, I really wanna get that old sow going again. Just haven't had time to work on it. Got parts strung all over the farmyard fer the old gal and need to get 'er buttoned back up. :>)

I try to look out for the guy.

He's 90 years old and it's not his fault that he's slowing down a little. It just happens as a matter of course as everyone ages.

That's the best way to handle weeds. 24D lost its abilities for me. I don't think these new machines can do as good with weedy stuff as the old ones did. Too much "go fast". It was unbelievable what I could clean up with my old 12 foot, model A engine, pull type, Baldwin when I was a kid. I can remember breaking feeder slats with the giant sunflowers. Weed sunflowers that is , not crop sunflowers. That was during W war #2.

Yep, that's what I'm up against; old-fashioned sunflowers.

That's why I gotta get that crop on the ground 'cause right now they are mostly in the "lazy susan" stage and that old gleaner will gobble 'em without blinkin' after they dry down a few days.

I'm gonna try to get you guys some pictures of this little venture if it's dry enough to cut after dinner.

Think I only have about 55-60 acres left to drop. Should be able to knock that out today if Mother Nature and the "Old Machine Bearing Gawds" will allow. :>)
