international 1566

I looked at a international 1566 today which is for sale the only problem is with the transmission, I was told 2nd gear does not work, but it appears that the medium range is not working. It feels like it is in range, but when you let the clutch out it starts to grind any ideas on the problem or cost to fix?

Are you sure it's the trans and not the shifter and linkages? Sometimes that's all the problem is.

When I put the range sleector in midrange the gears would grind. also when trying to put the gear selector in I think 3rd gear it would not go in. The 2 shifting levers(gear and range selectors) did not have a gear pattern on them, so I was going on past experience.

Remember that 1566 are just six speeds not eights like the 14teens and smaller. Thousand only PTO too. I had one and hated the trans. Never had the right gear. Bought a 1466 new and still have it.
