last of our first cutting 2010 - Upstate (central) NY

Here are some pics of our hay process in the Amsterdam area of New York...this is the last of our first cutting after an insane couple of days - got married on sat., wife's sister had her baby (a month early) on monday...going to hawaii on friday...the goal was to get all hay done before the wedding...missed by about 300 bales...better than last year after it rained till august
the tractors in the picture are a massey 265 and a massey 1080, the haybines are NH 479 (behind the 265) and the NH 488, rakes are a NH 258 in front and an Internation 35 in the rear, and the balers are a 273 w/ the belt thrower and a 311 w/ a pan thrower.
We put up about 4,000 bales of first cutting every year.
The MF 265, NH 479, NH 258 and NH 273 have all spent their entire lives at our farm and the rest of the equip has migrated its way here in the last 5 years or so through auctions.
This is our back corner field.

Hi Steve what county and town do you live in. I'm in northern Otsego Co.Like you most are now done with first and quite a few are well into second. Corn, small grains, and beans all growing extreamly well this year. The hay barns are bulging. I don't know where the 3rd cut and straw will be stored. Nice pics. of NY north of the "Rotton Apple"

maybe the passenger is overloading that side, put him on a diet

bit of Queen anne lace in with the hay

hill in background almost looks like area north of the river off 147 Schen county

Nice looking land. Looks like you can set your thrower and forget it. I have to re-aim mine for every other bale. I usually throw in about twenty bales then stack ten in front and 10 in back to give it a good start and check tension at the same time. Customers can be picky about weight.

tire is a little low but also sitting in a dead furrow...
this field has gotten a little weedy...next to be plowed.
we are in montgomery county, town of florida, near esperence...
the hills in the background are on the opposite side of the schoharie creek.

Congratulations on your wedding, new niece/nephew, and trip to Hawaii.

Nice looking hay and property; beautiful countryside.

Always enjoy seeing how other folks work their hay crop.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

nice looking tractors. the 1080 is a good baler tractor. thats what we use to square bale. and we have a NH 268 square baler. we do about as much hay as you.

thanks again for the pics

Need to replace the broken floation springs on the 479 before you wear out the shoes on the header. I am sure NH put four on there for a reason. Good pictures.
