A friend wants to locate a distributor cap for 6 cylinder flat head centennial engine. Any ideas where to look? Any tractor use that engine? No idea of it's age or model. Help needed to find serial# or Id #'s. I know 4 cylinder overhead valve contennial engines were used on Ferguson's and I think they started production in 1949, so this engine could be over 60 years old. Thanks in advance. George

george, there should be numbers on the side of the dist. copy them and go to a good auto parts dealer. if they don"t have them they can get them. wally

Should not be all that hard to find. There where a lot of tractors and equipment that used that 226 or 227 con. engine and if you go to a GOOD parts store they should be able to help you with it

if that is supposed to be a Continental 6 cyl. then a chevy nova 6 cylinder cap from the late 60's will work. may be taller but is supposed to fit.

There is usually a tag on the distributor with numbers. Give that to your parts man and he should be able to look it up. I just replaced one a year ago. If I still had the box I would give you the number.

Continental 226 flatheads were also used in Willys jeeps throughout the 50"s & early 60"s. Willy"s called them "super hurricane" engines. Parts are readily available at NAPA or on-line.
