Went out to close up the Chickens, ducks and geese. Chicken where in ther house no problems there. But the ducks and geese did not want to go into there house. Yep have 2 different houses for the chickens and the duck/geese . Any how went and looked in side the Bird house as I call it and figured I would see a coon etc but instead from a 6 foot as big around as the flash light black snake. Had a board in my hand so pinned his head down and took him for a walk. Threw him in to a pond or at least tried to do so but sounded like he hit solid ground. Any how hope he does not come back because if he does it will be his last time. I give them one chance to go find other places to eat but after that there dead

Kinda like the coons on the front porch

Be nice, I was just kidding...............

Wish one would live a couple weeks in a box and survive a mail trip. I'd love to have a blacksnake or two in my barn.

Snakes aren't real common in my area (saw 2 in 20 years).

Well Dave I guess I could box one up with say 5 mice to keep him company and send him to you but you better catch the mail before your wife did or you might be in the dog house. Oh you would have to pay for shipping and explain to me how to ship you a live snake with out us both getting in trouble

Ah but black snakes eat copper heads so I prefer them around so I do not have to do the copper head dance like I did last year in my shop.

Don't like snakes but my wife does. Nothing much but gartners and red bellies up here though. Except for the one in a tank on my dresser..........I don't mind him; corn snake; as long as he stays there. But the boy forgot his lid the other day, I din't stick around to find where he was. Crawled into a suitcase in the closet. He came out for a mouse.

Anyway, I'm curious about your ducks and chickens in seperate coops. Do they ever mingle? Ours roost either in the coop or in the barn but not seperatle. They just mingle all together which is not a problem except when stupid boody chickens take over duck nests.

Still better than snakes though.

Ya they mingle at times. Most nights there are 3 or 4 chickens in the bird house but you never know from day to day which ones will be where. Not often the ducks or geese go into the chicken house

Ya some how they do not seem to like people bring in animals like snakes because of the problem of them taking over. Sort of like the problem they have in FL. and the pythons taking over the ever glades

Here is what happens to snakes when they come around here. SA.22 magnum and my SIL's taxidermy skills created a neat hat band of this guy who was about 4' long.

Do the black snacks actually eat the chickens? I though they were rodent eaters. Maybe they are a good thing..........

I see also that you are at Lake of the Ozarks. Ever catch a perana there? I watched a show the other night about a possible population of them there. Apparently anglers do catch one from time to time and they think the springs provide enough warmer water to survive the winters. Interesting stuff.......

They do not eat the chickens unless they are the young chicks but they do eat eggs and if they learn that the eggs are there they will come back often.
As for the Parana, I can not say I NEVER fish in the lake because it is one big septic tank any more. I can fill in the blanks on why it is a spetic tank if you want to know
