The wife"s ford explorer (168K) is due to be retired. Local dealer has a used 09 merc. malian (8K)that she likes. The deal is one we can live with. I would think that the malian will loose value quick becouse 2011 will be the last year for the Merc. That said, we do not trade cars every few years. More like 8-10 years. My question is in 5 or so years what do you think parts will be like to find? Not sure but I think the malian is just a ford fusion in a prom dress. Thank you for your input.

WE HAVE A 06 FORD FREESTYLE. IT IS WHAT WE PURCHASED AFTER OR 96 EXPLORER. HERE IT IS 2010 FORD QUIT MAKEING THE FREESTYLE IN 07 CHANGED IT TO TRARUS X. NOW HAS QUIT THE TRARUS X. HAD TO REPALCE THE ELECTRONIC TROTTLE BODY A MONTH AGO NEW PART STILL ON ORDER FROM FORD. FOUND A USED TROTTLE BODY IN A SALVAGE YARD AFTER THREE WEEKS OF WAITING FINALLY TALK THEM IN TO PUTTING IT ON.
B-I-L HAS A TOY PICKUP HE HAD TO WAIT FOR A PART THAT LONG ALSO.

They keep changing stuff so often, it's hard to say. I believe the Milan is just a dolled up Fusion. While I spend most of my time with Powerstrokes, I don't notice many Fusion's or Milan's in our service dept. I think they're probably one of the most reliable domestic branded vehicles available. I wouldn't be too worried about parts availability even if the Mercury nameplate goes away.
