Where to find serial numbers and/or year of Bolins tractor

Looking for a used Kolar engine for a Bolins tractor. Where on the old engine do I find a number related to that engine and year of tractor? It is suppose to be a 18 hp engine that turns a drive shaft to the tractor.

Dave, you'll really get a better response on the "Garden Tractor" forum and the guys there are more knowledgable about this equipment. Good luck.

Dave,

More info is needed, but I suspect the engine has a horizontal crankshaft driving the shaft to the hydrostat rear end. It is probably a Kohler Magnum 18 hp which is a 2 cylinder horizontally opposed engine. This engine was used through the 1980's. If you look for a tractor tag, lift the seat and find a silver stick on tag attached to the seat/fender pan. You probably have a model 5018. If there is a letter H, that means a hydrostat tranny, and a G means a gear transmission. If it has the hydro, it is an Eaton model 11, and parts are available from Eaton. It is still in current production.

Darn good tractor!

Davey... did you check out the Sonny's Bolens link I posted as a reply to your earlier thread?

I would GUESS the information you need would be there, if not, their phone # is listed and the help you need is only a phone call away.

does it look like mine ?
This body style was made 79- 81
the body number under the seat has model, and serial #s the engine number should be close to whee the fuel line attaches to carburetor
Should be spec #, displacement, and serial #'s
